The Congregation of the Unwashed
Vothrog’s cell. A heretical congregation preaching that the
divine spark resides in every body regardless of species or caste —
a protocommunist anabaptist movement tuned to the
Yellow City’s caste-locked god-emperors and opium-flooded slums.
What the cell does
- Holds dawn meetings in places the Watch is least likely to look —
the Copper Ghetto’s dyewright cellars, the
Canal Quarter Safehouse. - Distributes hand-copied pamphlets titled “The Slime-Lords
Drink What the Wretched Weep” — unsigned, hand-passed. - Proselytizes in the low-caste quarters where the official
preaching has nothing to offer. - Provides shelter for those the Watch has marked.
Membership at end of Turn 15
| Member | Species | Role |
|---|---|---|
| Vothrog | slug-man | Heretic-Scholar (founder, PC) |
| Selindi | human | cell recorder; runs the safe house |
| Dov | human | ex-dockworker |
| Pav | human | ex-dockworker; extracted Hamech |
| Hamech | human | new recruit; weak link |
| Tuket | human | informal elder; remembers the Disturbance |
| Pip | ulufo | reliable cell member |
| Krah-Moh | crab-man | companion; veth-cheth bearer |
Eleven human and ulufo members plus Krah-Moh — though the
campaign has named only the eight above. Six of the eleven fled the
Copper Ghetto raid and made it to nearby houses; three were
unaccounted for at first count (Tuket, Pip, Hamech) and all three
were subsequently confirmed safe.
Current state
- Base: Canal Quarter Safehouse.
- Pamphlets in circulation in the city: six.
- Pamphlets remaining with Selindi for distribution: six.
- Pamphlets on Vothrog’s person at the Tidal Mark: six.
- Vothrog and Krah are south; the rest of the cell remains under
Selindi’s management, proselytizing and assisting the needy.
Open threats to the cell
- Uvaris has logged Vothrog’s face. Vellum Lane is no longer
safe for the founder. - Hamech knows Vothrog’s face and species. Corrected on
protocol but still the cell’s most vulnerable member. - The Anonymous letter writer knows about the cell well
enough to drop notes at the safe-house drop point. Friendly so
far; identity unknown.
